The new Hue bulbs are all the rage, as they allow you to control your lights (color, brightness) from mobile apps. The only downside is they're fairly expensive. (The starter pack with 3 bulbs and the hue bridge is $195 at Amazon.

However! Phillips has just released a version of the Hue bulbs that don't include color that drop the price down to $30/bulb (lasts around 13 years), and a starter kit that includes 3 lightbulbs and a bridge for only $99.
