smaller dogs are cave dwellers by nature, most animals feel safer in a cave in fact. My dog loves his kennel and voluntarily spends a lot of time there. Our kids are instructed to not follow him into his kennel, it is his space, his safe place. This is far more attractive than his current kennel.
