Not sure how I feel about this article or some of the responses. I am sure however, how I feel about Lebron James getting laughed at for his body locking up on him. If you've ever cramped during an intense workout, you know it's no picnic and no waltz in the park. Lebron's body "locked up" and immediately debilitated his capacity to move. My personal experiences with Gatorade have proven, it's okay lounging poolside, or a nice drink in the car on a hot day. But if I'm working out in the gym or in an intense bike ride, I 've learned it's a bunch of crap and I steer clear of it. I have consumed it on long bike rides ( 50 miles or more) and have almost immediately "bonked" ( shut down like Lebron) My thoughts are that the glucose content, which is extremely high, were quickly burned and produced lactic acid, which caused the cramps. I'm not sure about this roving Lactate theory mentioned in one of the responses. After all it's just a theory. Also, I found if I cut the Gatorade with 50% water, I could tolerate it on a long bike ride or during intense workouts.
