He believes the ends justify the means and that HE is the one they've been waiting for. So nothing this guy does is really a surprise. An Alensky-ite with a messianic complex pretty much says it all. Hillary appears to be much the same.

I can't see that video but I saw one that had this line in it. As expected, it was taken WAY out of context. Here's the President's entire address:

And a bit of context on those remarks. "Those ideals have often been threatened by an older, more traditional view of power. This alternative vision argues that ordinary men and women are too small-minded to govern their own affairs, that order and progress can only come when individuals surrender their rights to an all-powerful sovereign."
He wasn't endorsing this alternative view, but criticizing it.

This is only a snippet of the whole speech and he was paraphrasing and saying that our ideals were tested in regards to freedom. He did not say this as a matter of opinion. Misleading video here. I am certainly no fan of Obummer that is or damn sure, but this is misleading and frankly not worthy of Gentlemint. As much repugnance and bile I have for this man I have to say that I am not sure who put this up here, but shame on you for being much like the liberal news media and posting a dishonest view of this speach.

Sorry Gentleshy, but the whole video has already been posted on this thread. It is certainly a place to post a video like this, because it does a couple things. It helps create discussion, and it helps correct any potential errors or misconceptions.

I'm not an Obama fan either but I can't think of any President of the US who would ever be caught dead saying something like that on video even if they believed it. That's why I researched it more. The problem is that we tend to believe what agrees with what we believe. Instead of digging into this more, these kinds of things get passed along as fact. That's why there's Snopes. American politics in general has devolved into knee-jerk, what-offends-me-today soundbites. We the people should demand better and behave better.

I understand your point, but the poster of this did state there had to be more, acknowledging the lack of complete picture.
I don't mind these things popping up here. It has been my experience that a discussion usually always follows. I also can't remember a discussion here that sank below a respectable level. Personally I appreciate being told I'm incorrect or being disagreed with if the person follows their statement up with a logical defense. I know not everyone is like that, but I believe a site dedicated to gentlemanly pursuits can include topical discussions of a critical nature. While merely stating my opinion, I also would rather have the full truth come out even if it shows someone I don't like in a positive light. That has happened within the discussion so shaming the poster is a bit much.

Though the video was grossly spliced, I think they belie his true feelings. He claims to take a position that would favor the individual in his original context, but all clear-thinking people know this pure bunkum judging by his incontrovertible malfeasance.
He's using his tried-and-true, classic, deceptive Obama-Alinsky tactics here, claiming to stand for what he is opposed to, much like him stating he's not a king. He certainly has been conducting himself as a tyrannical mastermind since day one. The veil has been lifted.
