I think in my head, this is always how Star Wars really was. I haven't watched the movies in over ten years. Now that I have kids, I'm sure I will pick them back up again.
And I already thought the Empire was way cooler than the Rebel Alliance. The bad guys always get better stuff.

Yes! I vote for this. But then that would be to concede Star Wars and make it more like Star Trek. And honestly, I'm okay with that.

I agree with the need for a different type of Star Wars...and that the Empire has always been the best (which is why Empire Strikes Back is my favorite).
First, take George Lucas out of the process and that would be a step in the right direction. I saw on Southpark what Lucas and Spielberg did to Indiana Jones (poor Harrison Ford)...I don't trust them anymore with movies I like. George can go make another Willow and I'm fine what that.

I disagree. Part of the fun of star wars is the hope that good always triumphs over evil and that good and evil are distinct entities which can always be differentiated. The blurring of the lines of good and evil is one of the many MANY things that make the prequels so bad. I think that the premise is cool, but don't we already have enough morally ambiguous characters on screen and in print already? Can't Star Wars stay that bastion of moral dichotomy that it always was?
