I have grown up with these sorts of things (21) and I still find it disturbing. We already unintentionally and sometimes intentionally let out more information than we should without developers snooping around where their noses don't belong. Unfortunately the only solution I see is to discontinue use of these products. If enough people do it maybe they will get the point. But it will take a lot.

That's one thing that I'm proud of about Gentlemint: we don't really care about how you're tilting your phone, or other apps you have on your phone, etc. There is an incredible push to do this stuff though, mainly because the "Big Guys" do it. I'm not a tin-foil-hat kind of guy, but this stuff is what makes me really disgusted at our industry sometimes.

I'm sure more guys than just me appreciate your approach. This kind of stuff that FB (and Google IMO) does is why I've never and will never use their product. It annoys me that the NSA does what it does but that one is harder to opt out of. Gentlemint is great though.

I'm so glad that a) when Facebook cut off the message functionality in their app, I just kind of chuckled and used the web version on my phone and b) my wife convinced me that I was staring at Facebook on my phone too much and that I should delete the app all together and therefore, c) I never installed Messenger.

My wife decided to delete Facebook off her phone once the app told her it would not work unless she downloaded the messenger app. I'm more and more glad that I decided to delete my account 3 years ago. Facebook is out of control.
