Nice article and thank you for sharing. Here are my unasked for thoughts.

I am not a coffee drinker, I am a social coffee drinker (like a social smoker). In that I say I only drink coffee when others around me are doing the same. When at Starbucks I only order a plain coffee. I am no real judge on coffee itself. Telling the difference between a cup of Starbucks or Sanka is difficult for me (80% of Starbucks customers would fit into this category). With the exception that I do believe the French do make a badass cup of joe. The best cup I have ever enjoyed is in Paris (as with most food and drink).

With that being said, my wife and her family are huge coffee drinkers. I have a brother in law that has worked at Starbucks with all the proper Barrista training. I have a nice French Press which produces excellent results. It is easy to use and needs little effort to make coffee. We used this for many years before upgrading to a Saeco Exprelia Evo. It does everything that a Starbucks Barista can do with the simple push of a button. The rationale behind buying this machine was the fact we live 20 minutes from the closest professional coffee establishment. In addition, when it comes to coffee on demand, it is a no brainer. It will make espresso, coffee, cappuccino, latte, tea with a push of a button. Also in comparison to the cost of a Keurig, it was cheaper too. The Keurig system is the modern 'razor blade' model for making coffee. This machine will not go out style or be upgraded. It will just work. Anyway, just my two cents on coffee from a non coffee drinker. ;-)

I have found that the Aeropress Coffee and Espresso Maker makes one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had. It completely removes the acidity from any coffee bean. It's cheap and easy to clean, and my coffee is ready in less than 5min.
The key to the perfect cup is the water temp should be around 175degs and the grind should be fine to very fine.

    Just my 2 pennies.
