This is a pretty good list. I think the only thing I would add is some granola bars and bottled water. Maybe a portable jump starter as well. Anything else?

- The knowledge to use all items in kit and to practice using items before needed
- If stranded in "God's Country", a vented vehicle with tea lights and heavy tea light holders can help to increase the temp (assuming the gas tank ran dry)

Good list. I keep all of these in both our cars. I would add flares as another item. Also for winter I do put a set of Winter tires on my RWD sedan. Even though I live in NC, they have come in very handy when the weather gets ugly here.

I lived in NC, I know what you mean. They are ill-prepared cold weather let alone snow. Get an inch of snow and they shut down the whole state.
Flares are an excellent idea. Anything to increase your visibility to others will keep them from running in to you. Not to mention that they will alert any passerby's to the need for help. Thanks Nickolas.
