Excellent point. Correct me if I'm wrong but did a single tax dollar go to the Tesla? If that assumption is correct, then we have an excellent comparison between a private sector product (Tesla) and a government subsidized product (the Volt). I think central planning doesn't produce the best products.
The average cost for charge according to edmunds is around 25$/1000mi in the US. But this varies because of the random costs around the country, also varies by time of day your charge and the electric company. Nice looking car. For 35k, I would really consider it as my next car.
There are many states that offer discounted pricing "Souther Power" for households that have electric cars. Depends on the provider and their attitude. Unfortunately I live with Duke Energy and they are doing all they can to bilk their customers.
