If you like whiskey and keep an open mind, give Irish whiskey a go. Some of these affordable quaffs you'll be familiar with, and perhaps a few will be pleasant surprises. Personally, the Redbreast 12 is just lovely.

I'll give a thumbs up to Tullamore Dew. Discovered it last year March but it wasn't until November that I got to try it. My co-worker and I were stuck in Missoula, MT and found it at a local Irish pub. As he put it, "To quote Col. Potter...there's not enough O's in smooooth..." It is my new favorite whiskey.

Excellent choice. The Jameson Black was another standout for us, and a pleasant surprise was the Sherry Cask Irish Whiskey from the Mosswood folks (currently only locally distributed in Northern Cal).
