"The subjective morality of yesterday has been replaced by an ethical code that, if violated, results in unmerciful moral crusades on social media."

“Talk of good and bad has to defer to talk about respect and recognition.”

Two solid points that stood out to me in this article.

It seems all sides of an argument will continually need a "boogeyman" in order to drum up support/fear for their dogma.

Moral Relativism is not dead. It's just been renamed "offensive" as in we no longer claim "what is right for me is right me; what is right for you is right for you" but instead we say "I'm offended that what I call right and wrong you call wrong and right". A rose by any other name...

The article at least touches on the greatest irony of all - the incredible intolerance of the 'tolerant'. I think any concept of relativism is disappearing as there is a growing number of people terrified of moral difference, who can't allow their ideas to be challenged and have little justification for their own beliefs beyond "it's the current year"

It's human nature to create communities based on "us" and "them". The easiest way is to say "we are right, they are wrong."
