The first Phantasm while not a great film is still great in so many ways - the Tall Man, evil hooded dwarves and those killer chrome spheres. There's also the Phantasm take on death, our bodies/souls being harvested and enslaved, graves being robbed. The film wasn't great but it hooks on and lingers. It definitely has a place in low budget horror history. So yeah, I look forward to V. P.S. Angus Scrimm died (really died) on January 09, 2016 R.I.P.

the sci fi channel just played this for one of it's October Halloween movies. it wasn't bad... I mean yes, of course it was bad but as far as Phantasm films go it was a fitting end to the series and introduced some new themes that have me thinking the whole series isn't to be taken literally but rather as an exploration of the fear of death, aging and dementia. I doubt that the ideas of aging and dementia were in the writer's mind when the earlier films were made but wouldn't be surprised if real life experiences influenced this last movie. I give it two bladed spheres with a 1/4" drill bit up, way up in the cranium.
