The project was started in 1945 when Dali came to America to work with surrealist artists in the country. One of them was Walt Disney, and, with a combination of Disney's storytelling and Dali's masterful absurdity, 12 storyboards and 17 seconds of animation were put together to start a short piece akin to Disney's groundbreaking film, Fantasia.
