As a general rule, I prefer not to eat food that is smiling at me. But reading through this I realized that perhaps my mom's crazy concoctions were much more tame than they could have been.

It's still a thing in post-Soviet countries. Although not so crazy on the ingredients, the presentations are quite terryfing.
