"At the city's apex in 1100, the population exploded to as many as 30 thousand people. It was the largest pre-Columbian city in North America, bigger than London or Paris at the time. Its colorful wooden homes and monuments rose along the eastern side of the Mississippi, eventually spreading across the river to St. Louis."

I sort of grew up in St. Louis and always was fascinated by the Cahokia Mounds as they were within sight of the Interstate when driving to Chicago. Thanks for sharing!

Cool! I've never seen or heard of the Cahokia Mounds before, so this was pretty fascinating to me. I had no idea something like this existed in North America. I especially liked the behind-the-scenes look at archaeological digs.
