Man, what a great find. That really brought back a lot of memories. I was 12 when the movie came out and it immediately became one of my favorites. I was going to summer camp around that time and it just felt like I was in the movie. I think this line from the article states it best: "It’s about the rite of passage of going to a summer camp, and it’s your first extended period of time away from your family."
Yeah, I was about the same age (14). Watched it last night with my wife (who's 13 years younger and never experienced camping like that). Almost felt like a documentary. The movie has aged better than expected too!
