I haven't purchased a Pi Zero yet, but for $10, it's pretty compelling.

I'm not a programmer, but I've been interested in building a Pi in a small box for an ultra portable computer. However, I have a tablet, so that would be redundant.
I believe there are tons of resources aimed at non-programmers to assist getting things like this up and running. Instructables has a lot of how-to type things: http://www.instructables.com/tag/type-id/category-technology/channel-raspberry-pi/
Really for $10 and then the price of accessories you can't really go wrong.
