I have friends who have lived in Africa on and off for 20 years. I asked him, "What's the very best vehicle for Africa?" He responded that you can get any vehicle ever made in the world there, from US, Britain, Europe, Russian and Chinese stuff you'll never see anywhere else, but the #1 vehicle is the Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser. He couldn't say whether it was sheer durability, availability of parts and service, or something else, but it is a fact. I have never owned a Toyota product, but to me this is a strong endorsement.
