Absolutely. REI gives Sabbatical to all employees after a certain time on (10 or 15 years). Another company I knew of had no PTO or Hours, just a requirement to do your work. As long as your performance was necessary, every one was happy.
And they all report record satisfaction and performance. Nose-to-the-grindstone leads to a dull person eventually.
