PC gaming will always, always be the better experience. You have more power, better control, and way more options on a PC. You can't call yourself hardcore if you don't do it on a PC. That said, it's more expensive and takes more "know-how" and most PC gamers are into their rigs as much, if not more, than the games themselves. PC gaming is what drove the industry to the speed and graphics consoles enjoy today.
Console gaming is much more attractive - it's cheaper and anyone can do it. It also lends itself more to the casual gamer. I don't have the time or resources anymore for PC gaming, beyond Sims. But I do spend some time on the console with the kids. They actually spend more time on the PC than I do now!
