Patagonia's First Beer: Long Root Ale

I really like Patagonia as a company. They actually care about the environment and humanity in a way that isn't done as an afterthought to appeal to consumers.

Anyway, they've just released their first beer, the Long Root Ale. What's special about this beer is that it uses a grain that is specially developed for this beer, the Kernza. This grain actually makes the soil healthier over time. Because of the long roots of the Kernza wheat, the plant requires less water to grow than traditional wheat. (Hence the name Long Root.)

The beer is slowly rolling out distribution, but if you live on the West Coast it's in select Whole Foods stores today.
