Review: Monty Hi Light Hiking Boot

The good people at Ridgemont were kind enough to send us a pair of their Monty Hi light hiking boots. They're a straight throwback from the '80s in terms of style, but with some modern twists. In short: it's a light and comfortable boot at a nice price.

I've been wearing these boots for the better part of two weeks, and I can say that they've been great. They fit as expected, and are surprisingly comfortable. I've not had a "light hiking boot" before, and it's essentially a high sneaker with some tread.

The boot comes with water repellant coating on the nylon, waterproof oiled suede, and an anti-microbial insole. (The last feature is especially helpful, as non-leather boots usually start stanking for me about 2 weeks in. Not these guys.)

The boots look great, and I've gotten quite a few compliments on them as well. I personally really like the throwback look and colors, and they've held their form well. I feel like $99 is a very fair price point.

They're not as heavy or rugged as a pair of leather Red wings, but for something lighter and less expensive, the Monty Hi is a great option.
