This is how I have been doing drip coffee lately. As the website I linked to (Batdorf and Bronson in Olympia, WA) states, this method combines the best of filter drip and french press brewing methods. You get a great cup of coffee without the sludge of french press, and you can control the temperature of the water, which drip machines suck at. This is what I use when I want a lot of coffee, not just a small espresso.
