You may remember your grandfather using a styptis pencil to stop a bleeding shaving nick like magic and a wince. Stop the bleeding they did and did well, such is the nature of aluminium sulfate or potassium aluminium sulfate.
Unfortunately, we now know that aluminum affects the musculoskeletal system and brain, causing muscle weakness, bone pain, osteoporosis, delayed growth in children, altered mental abilities, dementia and seizures...damn. But hey, we discovered a work around to get the same job done sans alum.
