At least they don't try to recommend brands. When I first started it was suggested to me that I try to stay "light", Macanudo or some of the Dominicans. Turns out I like a "bolder" flavored cigar so I hated them. Maybe trying a range of cigar flavor levels would be in order, too.

Agreed. Knowing the preferred flavor of smoke is vastly more important (in my humble opinion) than brands. Wish I had that advice years ago.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure nobody would have suggested CAO or the Nicaraguan/Honduran blends I favor now for anybody's first cigar.
