Pin it! I love the idea of the Mozilla Foundation, and while I think they've made some missteps along the way as an organization--who hasn't?--they have made a very smart move with this announcement.
This is pretty nerdy, but basically they've created a way for developers to use a free, OPEN protocol to allow devices to connect to the Internet. You can create your own private gateways for smart home devices using a Raspberry Pi, without having to rely on a big tech company to house your information.
