Pitching for the Oakland Athletics, San Diego Padres, and Milwaukee Brewers throughout his career, Fingers helped shape the craft of relief pitching in the majors. He was also really incredible at shaping his moustache. Fingers originally grew it after Athletics owner, Charles O. Finley, challenged his players to a facial hair competition, offering $300 in prize money to the victor on opening day, April 15, 1972. Not surprisingly, Fingers won. And today, with his masterfully groomed 'stache still intact, Fingers continues to win at life.
