Wednesday on MSNBC, President Obama’s deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter made an amazing claim. She stated that Obama had created 4.5 million private sector jobs, and that’s more than in the Reagan recovery. To be fair, estimates of job creation under Reagan do vary. His economic advisor Art Laffer says that if you count jobs created by the Reagan boom that lasted until two years after he
left office, it was 21 million. But the Mercatus Institute says that during his term in office, it was just over 16 million. Either way, the lowest estimate is nearly four times Obama’s best estimate. So you can see why one of the biggest selling political souvenirs this year among Republicans is a T-shirt with a photo that resembles the famous Obama poster of 2008. Except this one has Paul Ryan’s face, and instead of the word “HOPE” it says “MATH.” -From Mike Huckabee
