"It's real, I've got to shoot this guy." The problem with this situation is that he should have gotten out of his car when the other guy got it. Risking a shootout is unnecessary and more dangerous than letting the guy have your car.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda. Nice idea in the perfect world that only exists in theory, Mr. Egro. Are you sure you can't see any sort of situation like this where the reaction is freezing in disbelief? I sure can.

I could see freezing in disbelief. But the reaction should be to exit the situation, not to grab a firearm. And, as I stated, the risk of a shootout are higher than the risk of exiting the vehicle.
