It's terrible how easy people are to manipulate with anecdotal evidence, particularly with a nice, "think of the children!" spin. Gun control, The PATRIOT Act, web censoring in the UK, the list is almost endless.
When confronted with any kind of national tragedy or tragic statistic, we should take a step back, collect ourselves, and then approach the problem objectively to find the best outcome.
