    I'm thinkin' a nuclear reactor facility that took up the same sized area would power a few million homes less expensively (if regulations were streamlined) and more efficiently.

    I think solar is great for individual uses, and every roof should ("should", as in it's a good idea, not "should" as in govt mandated) be made of solar panels in geographic areas where they can work, but it's an incredibly poor distributed power source.

      Gentlemint, we really need an option for 'liking' comments. +1 for above. I am totally in favor of distributed power generation, lets quit wasting electricity through transmission and distribution. Start building small 'pebble bed' reactors across the country.

        Well said and agree with above. I am installing solar panels on my new home. It makes sense for my family and I am fortunate to afford it. It does not make sense for tax dollars though. And the only companies I have seen making a profit on solar are those in bed to receive state, local or fed tax dollars.
