This is a really interesting breakdown of the construction of racing karts. I guess this is a serious thing that a lot of adults get into and often get injured doing.

I know a guy in my hometown. He is an upholsterer by trade, and owns a company that re-upholsters everything from family couches to custom cars. He's also in his early 70's, and he races karts as a hobby. The kart he owns can hit 100mph and is powered by a 125cc motorcyle engine.
