That's a great find. LAL testing is a very important part of medicine, although the author of the article was clearly a little confused about what you are really looking for. You do endotoxin testing because endotoxins leak out of gram negative bacteria when you kill them. Thus even something that has been successfully sterilized can still make you sick.
