OK, now, honestly, besides the "unfunny Dave" and the " liberal blathering"...it is a fact that the oil companies are screwing up our drinking water (present and future) with the "fracking"....I doubt poisoned water will differentiate between liberal, conservatives and/or pets...
forget him, forget everybody, make your own research..do some homework...I think people should stop "repeating "slogans" and start looking in to things without preconceived ideas....for real.
I have done some research and the major point here seems to be that the oil companies are refusing to release the complete list of what they are pumping in the ground (some mix of chemicals with water) in order to generate the "fracking"..if you have better sources please share...
Ok, you are correct. Oil companies are not releasing the formula for their frac fluids because they are proprietary. If you do enough research, you will find that it is not the frac process that sometimes cause ground water contamination. It is disposal of those fluids in shallow zones well above the treated zones or because of a leak in the steel pipe that is put in place to protect ground water. These occurrences, while rare do happen. The bottom line is, if you want energy independence in this country - if you want to get in your car and drive it any time you want - if you want you home warm in the winter and cool in the summer then these processes are necessary for us to have all that. I suggest you watch a documentary called "spOILed".
In response, again, to partenope I understand and appreciate your and everyone's concern over fracing. Everyone should be concerned but informed. I happen to be a retired geologist and while I have been closer to this process than most, I do not have any allegiance to any oil company or the industry as a whole. I know what I have seen to be fact. The last thing oil and gas companies want to have happen is to have caused some contamination of the environment. It is simply a huge money problem for them. I witnessed the application of safe drilling and completion processes for almost four decades and can say with a clear conscience that the oil industry as a whole is safe for the environment. Also we, as Americans, need the products the industry provides because we are addicted to them. I would urge everyone to look at unbiased reporting and decide for yourself what is really going on. The media, and David Letterman, is not really that place.
