Stoeger Double Defense

I rather like the concept of this shotgun. The Double Defense comes in both side-by-side and over-and-under configurations with all kinds of rails. It seems to me reloads would be more natural with the SxS but that may be because I'm used to it. I might still prefer the big magazine on a "tactical" Mossberg or Remington (Let's face it, I'll never get that Benelli I covet.) but you'll never find a more maneuverable shotgun than the Stoeger coach-length double-barreled shotgun. All in all, I'll bet I could learn to live with either of these little beauties.

Nice gun. No scope required though. I prefer the spray and pray method.

LOL! No scope, indeed; the bead fell off my '97 but my son still competes with it so, really, no sights at all! Point and click, baby!
Yup, not everyone's cup of tea, I use a double regularly but I admit it's not my first choice in the house. We should be aware of the variety available, though, right? Better to use something you are comfortable with, would be my theory.

Why? Why why why would you pick a double barrel that costs more than an 870/500. This was made for the Biden crowd.

Let me clarify: Why would you pick a double barrel *for a defense shotgun* when you could get something with a higher capacity and better form factor for the task.

Oh, I agree. But is the form factor better for every situation? My Mossberg 590 (or even my Win '97) isn't nearly as maneuverable inside my house, especially if I were coming out of the bedroom. No way I'm using a pistol grip, don't like shooting them and my 590 has a Phoenix adjustable stock on it. Too bad there isn't a perfect gun for every usage. And the double is something I practice with in combat-scenario style stages at least once a month so I'm very familiar with it's workings while on a clock (artificial stress, the closest most of us will luckily ever get to life and death).
First choice? Maybe not. Could I use it effectively? I bet I could. Are there people who use a double regularly and so are comfortable with it's manual of arms (mucho importante, no?)? Yup. And the DD was on the market long before the drooling Biden made his comments. Heck, I've been shooting matches with my Coach for 13 years. It could be nice to be able to let both barrels go at once, if need be.
BTW, our Genesis went to the Salvation Army recently. :( My son kept the GameCube, though, just so he could play Hulk and Green Army Men.
