This is the wrong discussion to be having. Owning and carrying firearms is a right GUARANTEED by the Constitution for all law abiding US citizens and is as inalienable as the pursuit of happiness. This right was designed to guarantee that this land for the people and by the people remains that way. I would go so far as to say that owning and knowing how to use and care for a firearm is as much a responsibility as voting. Whether or not this person or that politician agrees is a sideline discussion and I would suggest you are in the wrong country if you disagree.
The correct discussion is, "Why are you trying to take away my rights as an American citizen"?

I think you are definitely right! I probably should have worded that a little better. I believe it is right and I am for automatic weapons being legalized without a permit also. I think it is ridiculous. I guess I was also making a discussion of how it's not just a right but it also is good for society.

It's a good discussion and I agree with you on most of what you said. You are right, the discussion has been hijacked by those who would disarm and convert us to sheeple.
Too many think guns are for "those" people or "that" segment of the population. Guns are for us all. They are our heritage and they are the guarantee of a future free of oppression. Let's face it, if a revolution ever broke out in this country where do you want to be - holed up somewhere without a weapon or ready for whatever comes?
Personally, I'd rather die defending what so many others bled to give us than sit by while some politician with dreams of grandeur takes it from me.
