Chile is not the first place we think of when dreaming of sun, sea, and sand. However, the country is lapped by the Pacific Ocean so beach territory down the coast of the longest country in the world is plentiful. Not that you would need the beach as Chile, or more specifically the town of Algarrobo, is home to the biggest swimming pool on the planet (or off it we presume).

Located in the San Alfonso del Mar Resort, this swimming pool is 3,323 feet long (2 thirds of a mile) and features in the Guinness Book of World Records. As well as being the longest pool in the world, it is also the deepest, with a max depth of 155 feet! Truly enormous, we wonder how many sun loungers they have to put around this beast. via

Been there. It was made by Crystal Lagoons. The water maintenance system was invented by them. They have a project in Dubai, which will be bigger than this pool.
