Allow me to highlight the egregious section: "...but effectively living, working, and communicating as a single entity."
How.in.Holy.Hannah's.name.is that ANYTHING like a "small human society." I'm sorry, have you met humans? The only thing we do collectively well is bicker and compete. We are not a bee-hive, nor an ant hill, and we have never operated as a single entity on any scale - except in cult classic horror films like "Children of the Corn."
