I enjoy lists and perspectives but I'll comment because a good southern guy doesn't have a problem politely making his thoughts known.
(I welcome anyone to edit/improve my thoughts)
1. While I have a "momma" who raised me & I love and appreciate her, I married my "babydoll" ...but perhaps that is semantics. (I get what he is saying)
2. I would change the "chili recipe" to just something that a man can make and believes it to be superior to all others... Or in my case, a few things.
3. A southern man must have a college football loyalty and an explanation of said loyalty...and be knowledgable of said teams upcoming season no matter how bad that team might be.
4. I'd say a good pocket knife ranks higher than a few items that he listed. Everyone I know has one and has an opinion on them in general.
5. A deep appreciation for family: the one God gave you or the one you make.

I whole heartedly agree with the truck and especially with the good manners....always.
While living in Ohio, I found these things to be just as relevant...not as much while I was in northern CA, but it wasn't as bad as I had expected.
