Statistics aren't really helpful. I'm in IT and two of the team leaders of the team I'm on are women. So in my case, it is the other way around.
But how should we assess this difference? How many women compared to men are in those careers? I mean there are a ton of factors to consider. But the one-liner does have an emotional impact.

ahnyerkeester, it does say "for the same job" which probably means "job title". Them being team leaders changes everything.
But that is the best question "what do we do about it?" No clue yet, but when everyone believes it is real, and it is unjust, the solution will be worked out much faster than fighting a battle to prove that the wage disparity even exists.

Statistics are a tricky bird, and often misused. This one "seems" like it is true on its face as humanity acts in a habitual manner and power is difficult to wrest from the powerful. There are still huge numbers of people who believe that women don't belong in "power" positions in the workplace. I am in one of those contexts. I think it is getting better, but we still have work to do.

Is the fact that women need to leave the workplace for a period of time for childbearing and raising (and therefore not getting paid during that time) factored in?
