this is the way i open grapefruit, but the peel of organic oranges is as valuable to me as the meat. i use it in everything from chai to hot chocolate to sauces to cocktails. so i peel my oranges first with a standard vegetable peeler, and dry the peel either in the sun or in toaster oven at the lowest possible temperature with the door open a crack.
