As a kid I saw this movie when we rented it on video after a little league ball game; at the height of my childhood innocence...once I comprehended what was going on it was too late. What has been seen can't be unseen. One of the most disturbing/scariest movies I'd seen as a kid. It took a while to just blindly trust that a movie was good without knowing first what might be in it.

Built up courage to watch it again as an adult and had a completely different appreciation for the movie and the themes with which it dealt. This back story only heightens my appreciation for it. Excellent post!

Great read and I wasn't familiar with John Boorman until now. I wonder if that's where his son Charlie got the adventurous spirit that led to Long Way Round and Long Way Down.
