I don't disagree because I think the author makes a good point but I would expand it to say that MOST all societies ills can be solved by parents within the first five to seven years of their kids lives by parents modeling proper behavior, keeping high expectations of their children's behavior and not allowing negative influences influences in the home to redirect the positive behaviors.
Hard, yes, impossible, no... Families (moms and dads working together with extended members helping) can solve most all societies problems but pink talking unicorns that fly are more likely.
