Herbert Selpin’s “Titanic” (1943) was one of the greatest failures in movie history. Despite being the most expensive film ever made (to that point in history), the movie didn't quite work as an anti-British propaganda film, so the director was murdered by the Gestapo and it was banned from being shown in Germany.

This is a fascinating story. I had never heard of this film or all the events that surrounded it. Great find.
