I grew up with The Hardy Boys and even watched the show on TV. (Kirstie Alley's future ex-husband and Shaun Cassidy, David Cassiday's younger, blonder brother with whom my sister had a crush...and posters!)
I'd like to think that they had a profound effect on my as I always wanted to be a detective and too to being as observant as I could, always carried a pocket knife and was sometimes too curious for my own good. There's a bit of The Hardy Boys in Shawn Spencer and Gus Burton from Psych.
