The Flameless Grill Smoker can sit right on top of either a gas stove or hot coals. Its eight s-shaped vents let enough oxygen in to make smoke, but not enough to ignite flames, cooking your meat low and slow, infusing just the right flavor.

Man, this feels like cheating! That said, I've toiled over enough fires to appreciate it :)

Not sure how a box sitting on top of a gas oven will put smoke on anything except the house. Also would not want it smoking up the oven (which will also eventually go into the house). Good idea, but probably best used on a grill, with a lid, outside.
