The chain would be more simple, like a dog-tag chain. During my wife's pregnancy each bead would be hand shaped by me and then the middle drilled to slide onto the chain soon after my child's birth. Over time the oils from my body will affect the wear and color and therefore show which bead represents which child. As in, the darker the bead the older the child. Conversely, the brighter the bead the younger the child. Not yet sure which wood to use.
