    Patients are told the risks of the prescription drugs before being given them. With medicine everything is a calculated risk... most of those statistics can easily be explained away by someone who knows anything about the medical field.

    My guess is your a doctor. The fact is that there is really no need for doctors at all in everyday medicine. Anything aside from an emergency can be prevented by avoiding vaccines, and eating a well balanced diet. If you come down with an infection there are a dozen different remedies that can clear them up, viral or bacterial, and are a lot less harmful than antibiotics. Now surgeons and ER doctors I respect and think we have a huge need for in our society. I assure you if I need stitches, break a bone, or get into a wreck I will be headed straight to the ER. But as far as everyday medicine our society is on way too many drugs that aren't needed, are harmful, and cause more problems than you start with.

    I see what you are getting at now... I agree partially. I still think vaccines do far more good than they do harm... without them we would still have smallpox and have more cases of polio...
