This is quite possibly some of the worst dating advise (christian or secular) I have ever heard...It encourages you to "intentionally" make things serious and then attempts to use a hodgepodge of bible verses (taken out of context) as legs to "support" the bad advise given in tip #1...while telling you that now that things are serious, slow things down, and not to mess up or you are a bad guy, a bad christian, and failing God...The SoS reference is taken so out of context that that it would almost be laughable, except that this guy apparently is in leadership and has a teaching platform of some sort.

I'm sorry for dogging on this, if this ministered to or encouraged you...but I personally believe this is the sort of stuff that gives christianity a bad name to the world we are supposed to shine as lights to...it is always wise to chew the spiritual food given to you before you eat it, just as I expect you will chew on my post...btw sorry for the thread jack

I think he is talking to a specific group of guys... Christian guys who are non-committal, lack direction, don't plan (and then find themselves in compromising situations), and hide behind a veil of non-intentionality (to avoid going out on a limb and face the possibility of rejection). I've seen it a lot... Anyways, I also liked his on-ramp metaphor about foreplay. I agree that SoS reference is a reach... but looking at commentaries there isn't much of a consensus of what it does mean. Maybe I liked it because I identified with the guy he is talking to...

Fair enough...btw the Sos reference if you want to go the church/christ route then christ is talking about a place of such blissful rest and restoration for the church that he tells everyone not to bother her so she can fulling rest and enjoy the lavish gifts and affection he has poured out on her...if you want to go the king talking to the girl route do no awaken love until it so desires has nothing to do with premarital sex...its actually about enjoying and exploring love...in the original text SoS is extremely "graphic" talking about oral sex and orgasms SoS 7 (feet, thighs, "navel", belly)...I realize the author was trying to make a point but making a "good christian" point at the cost of "misrepresenting" God's word just to prove your point idk...perhaps the author just did not know and was just repeating the verses in the way he was taught...nut that is why we are told to search things out ourselves and no rely on the interpretations of other including mine for that matter...
