An example of how one group in the country (that exist in the world of msnbc and similar outlets) has a complete disconnect from the rest of the country or at least the part of the country that sees radical Islam as the problem, our soldiers as a force for good in the world and I'm sure the list of issues where there is a disconnect can extend on and on...

I'm speaking in general terms here, of course. And I perceive very little effort on their part (people like the guy in this clip) to try and understand the perspective of other side. (But unfortunately, making no effort to understand a different perspective isn't an uncommon trait in people). It's just that I've heard too many leftist try to take pride in their tolerance and empathy but I've rarley ever (especially in college) seen that empathy extend to people they strongly disagreed with.
